Hey Reader

Inside this edition of The Ops Standard...

📌 Why high-achieving founders feel stretched right now
📌 The truth about "glass and rubber balls" in business
📌 What operational maturity actually looks like behind the scenes
📌 The structure that allows you to actually step away

Last week I was in the French Alps, snowboarding, fully switched off - reminding myself why I built my business in the first place.

I came home with the lurg 😪, not firing on all cylinders. Monday arrived, and instead of executing my usual plan, I stayed in my pyjamas all day. Wednesday too. Pushing through would have been performative rather than productive.

Two full days off. With zero guilt or frantic Slack messages to the team.

In fact, there were people in the business who didn't even know I wasn't working those days. Because that's the way I've
intentionally built my business from day dot - nearly six years ago.

When I was telling one of my clients about taking the time off, she reflected my own business back at me, and it's been sitting with me ever since. She said:

"A lot of high-achieving women don't know how to take their foot off the gas. Everything feels urgent. Everything feels like a glass ball. But you're really good at knowing which one can drop and which one can't."

And she's absolutely right!

When pressure hits, most founders go into overextend mode. Every task feels
critical. Every ball feels like it will shatter if it's not caught immediately.

But in a well-built business, most balls are rubber.

And it's the thread running through every conversation I'm having in 2026. Founders aren't struggling because they lack ambition or revenue. They are stretched because their business has outgrown the way it is structured.

Growth happened.
AMAZING! Demand is there. GREAT! The team exists. AWESOME!

But the
operational maturity has not kept pace.

When structure lags behind growth, the founder becomes the glue. You carry context in your head. You smooth over communication gaps. You approve more than you should. You jump back in when something wobbles because it feels quicker than explaining it again.

It works, until it doesn't and
quietly costs you your energy.

Here are the three trends I am consistently seeing behind the scenes this year.

1. Everything needs one operational home

Most businesses I step into aren't broken. They're busy and successful. But over time, tools multiply, information spreads, and processes evolve informally.

Projects sit in one platform. Client communication lives somewhere else. Strategy conversations happen in voice notes. Critical context exists inside the founder's head.

The teams who feel calm right now have chosen one
operational home and committed to it properly. They have clarity around where information lives, how decisions flow, and how updates happen. This speeds up delegation, protects momentum, and removes the founder as the default middle person.

Quick note: if you're currently evaluating tools, Dubsado have a great offer running right now - new users get 60% off their first year when subscribing to an annual plan. Offer ends Friday 27th February at 1pm PT.

Inside our Digital Transformations and OBM Partnerships, this is foundational work. We build ecosystems that feel intuitive and human, while being robust enough to hold growth. That structure is what allows a founder to step away for two days without the business destabilising.

2. Founder heroics are being replaced by leadership rhythm

Many founders say they want to step back. Then something dips or feels off, and they instinctively step back in.

I understand that impulse deeply.

But the founders who are genuinely evolving this year have something very steady in place:
clear ownership across the team, defined expectations, and a consistent leadership rhythm that anchors everything.

There's nothing flashy about this. It's disciplined and mature.

When roles are clear and communication is structured, the team doesn't wait for rescue. They move. The founder leads instead of firefights. Pressure moments become manageable rather than overwhelming.

This is where the emotional shift happens. You move from reactive operator to intentional CEO. That shift is the entire reason
OBM Associates exists.

3. Strategic partnership is becoming essential

The biggest change I'm feeling in 2026 is this: founders don't need more ideas. Most don't! They need someone who can see the full business with them.

Someone who can say,
calmly and clearly... here's the priority. Here's what we tighten. Here's what we leave alone. Here's what can safely drop.

That level of discernment protects your time, your energy, and your nervous system.

Strategic partnership means stepping into your business at a leadership level. Managing the team, refining the systems, and ensuring growth doesn't create chaos. It means you're no longer the glue holding everything together.

Because the real risk this year isn't slow growth. It's building something impressive that quietly exhausts you.

If you're reading this and recognising yourself in that glass-ball feeling -
(that subtle tension of never fully switching off) you're likely at the tipping point we specialise in.

There is currently one space inside our
Strategic Partnership Pathway for a founder who is ready to steady their operations, empower their team properly, and experience what it feels like to lead without carrying everything alone.

If that's you...

This year belongs to founders who build strong foundations.

You can be one of them!

Lauren
