I'm going to be honest with you about something, the last few months have felt, at times, like I'm starting my business from scratch.

It's not true. But it's what it's felt like. Where everything you built your expertise around feels like it's been put in a blender.

When I first launched, 6 years ago, it was all about learning. Learning the systems, the automations, what a strong operational setup actually looks like for different types of business models. That was a learning phase. And it was exciting, even when it was hard.

And now I feel like we're back there. Going back to learning, going back to understanding. But this time, what we're learning about is bigger!

That's what AI is doing to operations right now. And when you run an agency where business management is the whole thing, you feel it. But no ones actually saying it.

The bit I wasn't expecting

I've been met with overwhelm. I can say that now.

There's something about all of this, specifically AI and where it's taking business operations, that is genuinely massive! Not scary. MASSIVE! When the thing your agency does for a living is being rebuilt in real time, you sit with that differently than most people do.
​
There were moments where I couldn't find the words to describe what I was feeling. Maybe some sort of resistance. Like I could see where things were going but wasn't quite ready to sit with the scale of it.

I actually thought about my sister recently. She's a mental health nurse. She goes about her day, does her thing, lives her life. The AI conversation that takes up about 80% of my headspace? Completely non-existent in hers.
​

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little jealous. Just for a moment. The idea of not thinking about it for a single day felt genuinely appealing.

​
But that's not the reality we're living in. And I'm exactly where I need to be! Because the founders and businesses we work with are going to need someone to lead this properly. Who sat with the discomfort. Who figured it out.That's me. And I'd rather it be me.

What actually shifted

At a mastermind weekend recently with the Root and Scale team. We sat down to work through an exercise and the plan was to use AI straight away.
​

I stopped us.

I wanted to see what we came up with first. Just thinking. Talking. No tools.​
​

What came out surprised us all! We found something I honestly don't think AI would have surfaced because it came from how we specifically approach these problems. Our nuance. Our way of thinking.

​
It reminded me that the thinking still has to come first.
​
Knowing your business, knowing your model, knowing what actually makes sense for you day to day. That doesn't disappear because the tools are getting smarter. AI is something you layer in on top of that. AI is what you layer on top of that foundation. Not the other way around.
​

And this is where I think we have a genuine edge! Not just in which tools to use or which workflows to build, but in the strategic architecture underneath all of it. How do you build operations with this technology in a way that actually fits your specific business? What makes sense? What doesn't?

​That's the work. It's where I'm spending my time, and it's some of the most interesting work I've done!

Where I've landed

I've crossed over the resistance now. And what's on the other side is clarity. Not "I've got it all figured out" clarity. More like, I understand what direction we're moving in. I know what the real questions are. And I know what we're building toward.
​

The landscape has been evolving for years. Different tools, automations, systems talking to each other. What's shifting now is the thinking layer. And that changes everything!

Because it means the people who can architect operations at a strategic level, not just implement tools, are going to be the most valuable people in the room.

I know that's us!

I'm genuinely excited. The type of excitement where you're running through ideas at 11pm because you can't switch off, and you're Oura ring screaming stress, sleep score in ruins, and experientially? Pure fuel!

That's how Q2 kicked off for me. And if you're sitting with some version of this overwhelm, whether it's AI specifically or just the pace of change in general, I want to leave you with this...

The discomfort isn't a sign you're behind. It might just be a sign you're paying attention.
